Ayurveda is a Sanskrit word that translates as “The Science of Life. It is the world’s oldest holistic health care system, dating back at least 5,000 years. The primary focus of ayurveda is the maintenance of health, the prevention of illness, and aligning the body and mind with the rhythms of nature.
Self-awareness is the essence of ayurveda as the foundation for good health. Bringing awareness to our behaviors and choices is our most potent tonic. Specific principles in diet and nutrition, daily routines, exercises and techniques are utilized to stabilize the body & mind. Many of the remedies for common ailments can be simply and quickly prepared in your own ‘kitchen pharmacy’ with widely available foods, spices and herbs.
In ayurveda we place a strong emphasis on the diet. Simply stated, our food becomes us. By applying the principles of ayurveda you can learn to make choices that nourish your body, calm your mind, satisfy your senses and strengthen your immunity. I call this the Alchemy of Ayurveda. It is a back to basics approach that is simple yet profound, mundane and magical. It is folk medicine at its most refined. Ayurveda is gracious in that its principles, when practiced, is a system of healthcare available and effective for everyone!
Remember….
“Let Your Food be Your Medicine and Let Your Medicine be Delicious!”
“May we all live an inspired and meaningful life, fueled with natural vitality, steeped in gratitude and aware of our true nature.”
